How to enable dual monitors with a Ati Xpress 200 Video Card

How to enable dual monitors with a Ati Xpress 200 Video Card

Dual monitor really changes the way you work, and I got used to it under Windozz.

I had already managed to get dual head working under Dapper, but it had been a major pain.

Now, with Edgy, it has been quite easy.

A bit of googling may solve the problem.

First:
Enable 3d
(thanks to the ubuntu-it guide)

1) make a backup copy of your xorg.conf
sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.old

2) Install the driver with restricted-manager

sudo restricted-manager

Enable the option... et voila!

Second: Use aticonfig

I use the command

sudo aticonfig --initial=dual-head --dtop=horizontal

and I am happily switching from one screen to the other...
